2007 Grants — Lively Letter Learner

Last year all Kindergarten teachers participated in a two day training course on “Lively Letters”. The program utilizes pictures, touch queues, physical response and music to introduce and reinforce the learning of letters and their sounds, which in turn leads to improved reading skills.
This grant of $1,326.00 will fund materials in support of this curriculum across 14 Kindergarten classrooms in Beal, Spring, and Coolidge Schools, including 3 literacy tutors. These are sustainable materials that this year will benefit 280 students. These materials will allow the teachers to teach these skills through a wide variety of methods and approaches.
