Social Hour begins at 6:30
Competition begins at 7:30
HOW DOES IT WORK?
· Four-person teams collaborate to spell written words on a whiteboard. Words will be pulled from a few sources; 25% will be from the 2011 Scripps National Spelling Bee Spell It®.
· The teams compete in elimination rounds with the finalists participating in the BIG SPELLING BEE.
· Download the official rules and official Spell It® Word book .
WHO CAN HAVE A TEAM?
Individuals, local businesses, organizations and schools are invited to enter a team. The 2011 Spelling Bee will be an adult only venue at Veteran’s Inc. (formerly Calvary Retreat) on South St. with a beer, wine and soda cash bar and complementary snacks.
COST?
The tax-deductible team donation fee is $200. Teams can recruit business sponsors and should check with their employer about matching donations. The team donation can be a mixture of individual and business sponsorship.
ARE FAMILY & FRIENDS WELCOME TO ATTEND?
Yes! Spectators are highly encouraged to attend and cheer for your favorite team. The cost is $10 per spectator. We will have a cash bar, snacks, and raffles. This is a great time to reconnect with old friends and meet new ones.
WHEN & WHERE?
Friday, May 6, 2011. We will hold a BEE SWARM from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm, during team registration( also know as HAPPY HOUR ).The Spelling Bee will start at 7:30 pm.
