2007 Grant — A Time of Transition

SEF awarded the 8 white team $1,524.00 to support their "A Time of Transition" Program.  The 97 students of the 8 White team will benefit immensley from seeing the connections between Language Arts, Social Studies, Math and Science.  In the long-term this program will serve as a model for the middle school faculty.

The theme of this program centers around the concept of transition and things being “in the middle”, such as the middle ages, volcanoes, exponential functions, and the process growth and decay.  Students will work on a portfolio which will serve to both demonstrate their work and tie the four subject areas together.

These portfolios and projects created will be presented during “8th grade white night” to parents, peers, and other members of the school community.  Much like the Floral Street Biodiversity event, we are looking forward to attending this evening to see SEF funding at work in our schools.
